Mystic Light
Sometimes it's kinda rough being a loose woman, a loose knitting woman. The Mystic Light KAL is set to begin this week. I've had my swatch done since last week but have had too much going on to take any photos. The designer calls for using US Size 7's, since I am a loose knitting woman I went down to a US Size 5 thinking that would be the ticket. However, I'm not too sure, I think I'm going to have to use a US Size 4. The measurements of mine just lightly blocked is 14 cm x 8 cm, just a little shy of the designers 16cm x 11 cm. The yarn is Schaefer Yarn - Anne, 60% Merino wool superwash, 25% Mohair and 15% Nylon. I'm signed up for a couple other KALs that start this week as well, but I've decided I'm going to focus on this one and just save the clues to the others. One I am excited about is a Baby Afghan KAL - Christines Rose Garden. I do not have any grandbaby's in the works but a Gammy has to be prepared!!!!!

Ohhhh, I love the color. I do think you may like using 4's a bit more. I'm going to be doing that as well. It's a balancing act of cables showing well and lace staying open, isn't it.
Your yarn is such a gorgeous color. Perfect for a shawl to wear with a pretty summer or spring dress!
I would definitely try the fours or add a second yarn for a little more bulk (which is what I will be doing more than likely).
Love the color.
Your swatch looks good. What's the Schaefer Anne color called? I think it might the same color I ordered but I haven't got mine yet.
I love the firey color of your yarn. I like the yarnover size with your size 5 needles and wonder if size 4 needles could possibly make it look any nice. I look forward to seeing what you decide.
Your yarn color is so deliciously vibrant! The swatch itself looks great, but I understand when the "feel" isn't right for the gauge you got. I swatched on size 6's (4mm) and found it too tight and I'm a loose woman (er, knitter) too. I think my yarn is on the heavier side of fingering weight. Schaefer Anne seems to be on the lighter side. I still have to photo my swatch. It's been sitting in my project basket looking at me so mournfully. Maybe it just wants to be redone on larger needles? I don't know, some swatches are hard to read. Heh.
Well, I surrendered and joined the KAL. Thanks a lot.....LOL
Don't you dare do that again...Now, I am going to have to have Ashley dye me some yarn to do this with, sheesh.
And the list goes on,she says smiling.
I found you through the Mystic Light KAL. your yarn is SO pretty. I love red. Ironically, my shawl is going to be blue and rust, not red. I read through several of your posts. How terrible to lose your French Press! Ours is all we have used for like 5 years.
oooohhhh Peggy...your yarn is gorgeous...how very pretty. I have to keep telling myself now...okay I love the yarn my daughter got me for the kal...I love the yarn my daughter got for me for my birthday...I love my yarn....yours is so very pretty. Wowwow...just stunning.
Hi Peggy,

Bettina
